Cedega has a number of built in diagnostic tests to determine if your system is ready to play. The easiest way to make sure you are ready to go is to install Cedega, run the diagnostics and try the free SPORE Creature Creator demo.

Software Requirements

Cedega is designed to run on a wide range of Linux distributions. Distributions not listed as supported may still function perfectly with Cedega but are not covered by the Cedega Gaming Service Support Team. Community support is available for all distributions and hardware.

Distribution

Cedega is known to work on all major Linux distributions. If all dependencies are installed Cedega should work on any Linux distribution. The Cedega Gaming Service currently supports the latest stable releases of:

• Ubuntu
• Linspire
• Mandriva
• SUSE
• Debian

Hardware Requirements

We recommend a high-quality NVIDIA video card to play today's top games. In general, however, meeting a game's minimum system requirements is all that is necessary for Cedega. However, in some cases games may require superior hardware than that suggested. Hardware not listed as supported may still function perfectly with Cedega but are not covered by the Cedega Gaming Service Support Team. Community support is available for all distributions and hardware.

Video Card

Only NVIDIA graphics cards are supported by The Cedega Gaming Service Support Staff. Cedega is known to run well on ATI graphics cards, however, some games do not work due to driver bugs. Non-NVIDIA cards are supported by the Cedega Community.

Due to superior Linux driver support, The Cedega Gaming Service only offers technical support for NVIDIA GeForce class video cards. Pixel Shader 3.0 are only available on NVIDIA FX class cards and above. Shader Model 2.0 is only available on a GeForce 5X00 and above, however, enabling these options only on a 6X00 or above is recommended for best performance.

Cedega also works with ATI Radeon 8500 or better cards using the proprietary drivers available from ATI. Please note that the ATI drivers may have bugs or be missing features in some core functionality and may cause errors, graphical anomalies or the game to simply not work with Cedega.

Other on-board video cards such as Intel (example: Intel 945GM) and S3 video cards are not supported -- they may run some games through Cedega, though most will not run or may crash due to bugs or missing functionality in the drivers. As a result, we are unable to offer official support beyond ATI/NVIDIA due to these limitations in Linux driver support.

Older cards such as the TNT, TNT2, Radeon 7500, Rage Pro, Voodoo, Matrox or similar cards are not recommended for use with Cedega.

Remember: the better your video card, the better your gaming experience.
